MONUMENTS

For ages the Land of Zamość has been a melting pot of nationalities and cultures what has resulted in its unique characteristics. Therefore it is an ideal place for all tourists fascinated by history, archaeology or ethnography. Many mementoes of the past have been preserved in the county area. The abundant offer of tourist destinations within the county includes as many as 82 objects of interest.

The most popular toutist destinations include:

Zamość - cultural centre of the county, a Pearl of Renaissance with the Old Town inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Krasnobród - a health resort (a Physical Rehabilitation Sanatorium for children with chronic diseases of the upper respiratory system, motor organs and rheumatic diseases) with the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary of Krasnobród, chapels of St. Roch and "On the water", the Museum of the Village of Krasnobród showing collections of geological exhibits, old household tools and an interesting exhibition of fauna and flora.

Zwierzyniec - located among forests of the Roztoczański National Park, with many historical objects: "Plenipotentiary's palace", a building of Zamość Estate Administration, a baroque church on water and the Educational - Museum Centre of the Roztoczański National Park and a sanctuary of the Polish pony (tarpan horse).

Szczebrzeszyn - the oldest and multicultural town with beautiful baroque churches, a synagogue and a Jewish cemetery and a unique - a monument to a beetle from the famous poem by Jan Brzechwa, set up on the 650th anniversary of the town founding.

Guciów - there is a 19th-century farm of Roztocze, showing old household appliances and farm tools. The cottage also houses an exhibition of minerals and fossils dating back million years. Moreover, in Guciów there is an old dwelling site with remains of ramparts dating from the 9th-11th centuries.

Sąsiadka - it is an interesting place for archeology sympathisers, since traces of an ancient dwelling site have been found here. Huge fortified ramparts separated by moats date from this distant period.

Klemensów - with 17th-century palace of the Zamoyski family with a garden and a park.

Radecznica - with Bernardine monastery complex from 17th c. - Sanctuary of St. Anthony of Padua with St. Anthony's shine on water.

Łabunie - with palace-park complex of the Zamoyski family and Aleksander Szeptycki and 17th-century parish church.

Skierbieszów - with Renaissance parish church.
